Death of 67-year-old man found on Yorkton, Sask. street considered suspicious

Police say the death of a senior who was found on a Yorkton, Sask. street Tuesday is being considered suspicious.

On Sept. 13 at around 5:15 a.m., RCMP were called to  Wellington Park Road for a report of  an unresponsive man in the street.

The man was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.

On Thursday, police said an autopsy and investigation indicated the death is believed to be suspicious in nature.

RCMP said the man was 67-years-old and from Yorkton.  His name has not been released.

According to police, there is no risk to public safety at this time. Wellington Park Road is open but a park near Hopkins Lake in Yorkton remains blocked off. Police said the area should be open late Thursday or early Friday morning.

Anyone with information about any suspicious activity in Yorkton between midnight and 5:15 a.m. Tuesday is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
