The Winnipeg Goldeyes are headed to the championship series.

The Goldeyes pulled out a 3-1 victory in the deciding game five on Monday in St. Paul. The Goldeyes won the final two games of the division series to eliminate the first place St. Paul Saints three games to two.

Mikey O’Brien was nearly flawless in earning the victory. He retired 11 consecutive batters to start the game and ended up recording seven strikeouts over seven innings. He allowed just four hits. Winston Abreu pitched the ninth inning to record the save.

The Goldeyes will now face the Wichita Wingnuts in the championship series in a rematch of the 2012 final, the last time the Goldeyes won a championship.

The championship series will open in Winnipeg with game one at Shaw Park on Wednesday. Game two will go the following night before the series shifts to Wichita for the final three games if necessary.
