ST. THOMAS, Ont. – Ontario’s police watchdog has released the name of a woman who died in police custody.
The Special Investigations Unit was been called in to probe the death of Debra Chrisjohn, 39, of Oneida Nation of the Thames.

Provincial police in Elgin County say officers arrested the woman at about 7 p.m. Wednesday on an outstanding warrant.
Once in custody at the OPP detachment in St. Thomas, Ont., the woman went into medical distress.
She was taken to hospital and was later pronounced dead.
No information has been released on a possible cause of death.
The SIU investigates all police interactions that involve death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
