UPDATE: The statues have been returned to the Chinese Garden and police said no arrests have been made but that the investigation is on-going.
Police are appealing to the public for help in finding two statues that were stolen from a Chinese Garden in Vancouver on Tuesday.
The theft of two large rose quartz lion statues from Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden happened sometime between 6 p.m. on Sept. 6 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 7.
The rose quartz lions, which are extremely heavy and roughly 18″ tall by 24″ wide, have been a fixture at the popular tourist spot for about 30 years and are considered treasures.
Police are continuing to investigate but due to the unique nature of the stolen items are asking the public’s help to find them.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the VPD or Crime Stoppers.
