Country music star Corb Lund to headline free concert in Fort McMurray

Fort McMurray residents are invited to a free, all ages concert and barbecue on Saturday afternoon.

The concert in Borealis Park will be headlined by Alberta-born country music star Corb Lund. Local acts Dan Gillies and Dan Tulk will also perform.

The concert will take place rain or shine. The Grey Cup will be on hand for people to take pictures with and a new art installation by artist Giuseppe Percivati will also be unveiled.

The family-friendly event kicks off at 1 p.m. and will include an afternoon of face painting, family portraits and bouncy slides. The event runs until 5 p.m.

There is no parking at the park but free shuttles to and from the event will be provided Saturday afternoon. A map of pick-up locations can be found on the event’s website.

Those who wish to attend are asked to RSVP online.

Lund was also part of the Fire Aid concert in Edmonton this summer, which raised funds for Fort McMurray wildfire relief.
