If you’re to believe Vanity Fair‘s 2016 International Best-Dressed List, then Prime Minster Justin Trudeau is now one of the most sartorially smart figures in the world.
The annual style rankings feature the 44-year-old alongside the likes of Prince Harry and Leslie Odom Jr. and describe him as one of the most fashionable folks of the year.
He goes on to say that “left to his own devices” his style idol would be Jack Sparrow — a character portrayed by Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. “I used to wear capes — oddly, they disappeared around the time my wife, Sophie, came into my life.”
Other A-listers who dress to impress, at least according to Vanity Fair, are actors Idris Elba and Eddie Redmayne and actress Helen Mirren. U.S. President Barack Obama received a nod as well. This year, a special citation was also given to Queen Elizabeth II for her longstanding love affair with bright coats and unique ensembles.

This isn’t the first time Trudeau has been called out for his style. In June, GQ said he was one of the “13 Most Stylish Men In The World Right Now.” They went on to call him the “Prime Minister of Suave.”
The magazine’s reasoning was simple: “He is at least vaguely aware of how a suit should fit. Admittedly a low bar, but one rarely cleared by world leaders; his hair has more waves than Miss Manitoba; and he has a tough yet politically appropriate tattoo (of a Haida tribal raven) on his left arm.”
According to the Vanity Fair‘s website, the International Best-Dressed List was founded in 1940 “by American fashion pioneer Eleanor Lambert, who upheld the institution as ‘a sociological record of our time.’ Those named to the list… include an all-encompassing collection — including royals, First Ladies, movie icons, and household fashion names.”
