Regina man charged with impaired driving in death of Tanner Kaufmann given bail

A Regina man accused of impaired driving after a fatal crash killed Tanner Kaufmann has been released on bail.

Colby Heid, 19, was released on a $500 bond following a bail hearing Thursday morning.

Heid is charged with one count of impaired driving causing death after Kaufmann, 37, died when an alleged drunk driver collided with his parked truck on a rural road north of Regina on Sept. 4

Heid is subject to a number of conditions, including curfew from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., and a driving and alcohol ban. He also must submit to breath tests when requested, stay within 50 kilometres of an approved residence and seek alcohol counselling.

According to friends and family, Kaufmann was out on the Pasqua Street extension grid road Sunday evening to train his five-month-old German short-haired pointer named Macy. The dog also died in the collision.

David Limacher, Kaufmann’s longtime friend, believes Kaufmann was outside the truck when the collision happened.
