A woman in her 70s is in hospital with serious burn injuries following an apartment fire in east-end Toronto overnight.
Fire crews responded to the scene at 280 Donlands Ave. near Cosburn Ave. just before midnight and located a woman in a second floor unit.
Officials say she was transported to hospital with burns to 30 per cent of her body.
Toronto fire said the building’s sprinkler system managed to contain the blaze within the apartment.
Initial reports indicate careless smoking may have been the cause of the fire which caused $30,000 in damages.
The building was partially evacuated and there were no reports of any other injuries.
