Construction has started to widen Elm Avenue and install a bike path in Beaconsfield, west of downtown Montreal.

It’s a project that is largely lauded among cyclists.
The project would allow cyclists to have their own bike lane for several kilometers from Montrose Drive to Brown Owl Lane.

Traffic will run in both directions during the work, but could slow down because the roads will be narrower.
Residents Global News spoke to said they were disappointed the project was slated to take three months to finish, but admitted they were happy it was happening.
Construction crews are scheduled to work from Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The work is scheduled to finish Dec. 2.
