The City of Saskatoon said it was a close call when a truck collided with a civic vehicle Friday on College Drive.
Workers were painting crosswalks at Munroe Avenue at around 2:30 a.m. CT when a pickup truck collided with one of the city’s trucks, pushing it around 10 metres.

One worker, who had just stepped out of the vehicle to set up the next work zone, heard a loud vehicle approaching and managed to safely jump to the side.
Another worker was inside the vehicle and hit his head on the steering wheel from the impact. Emergency workers treated him on scene for injuries that appeared to be minor.
Saskatoon police arrested a man on suspicion of impaired driving following the crash.
“It certainly could have had a tragic effect on these men and their families. We are so thankful no further harm came to them,” said the city’s director of transportation, Angela Gardiner.
City officials said warning lights were in use at the time of the collision but they will pursue opportunities to improve the safety work zone set-ups.
