According to officers, people within the crowd started to assault the officers and they weren’t able to assist. Instead, they had to take out a taser and discharge it.

“You have two individuals up against 100 people and you really hope that crowd doesn’t turn on you. In this case, unfortunately it did,” said Constable Jay Murray with the Winnipeg Police Service.

During the struggle with the crowd, the officer dropped the taser and officers said they attempted to go back to help the victim.

A warning to the public from officers as well. The taser could pose a risk if even placed in someones pocket as a build-up of static energy could activate the weapon.
