Arson suspected cause of northwest Calgary fire: Police

Calgary Police believe the fire in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday was intentionally started.

The fire began around 3:15 a.m. in the 400 block of 30 Avenue northwest at a home that was still under construction.

No one was home at the time, but the home was completely destroyed. A person dressed in dark clothing was spotted riding a bicycle in the area when the fire started.

Police said in a news release Thursday, that same person later returned to the burning house and was last seen travelling north along 4 Street northwest.

Investigators have released images from nearby CCTV footage.
