Volunteer firefighters linked to 16 arson cases in Cape Breton arrested

Police say they have arrested two men linked to 16 fires they say were set at locations in communities in the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.

They say one man from North Sydney and another from Bras d’Or are due in court Friday to face the charges.

Stephen Tremblett is facing 12 arson charges, while James Clayton MacDonald is facing 16 charges of arson.

Police say suspicious fires were set in Florence and Bras’Dor in recent months.

Both men were arrested Thursday and were remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Facility.

The investigation is continuing.
