Truck strikes motorcycle, RCMP investigate speed

KELOWNA, B.C. – RCMP are looking for witnesses following the collision between a pick-up truck and motorcycle Thursday evening on Finns Road.

A man was taken to Kelowna General Hospital with arm and leg injuries, both considered minor, after he was struck by a truck turning out of a parking lot, according to Cst. Solana Pare.

Cst. Pare said the truck driver did not see a second motorbike coming down the road.

The motorcyclist attempted to avoid the truck, but clipped the front passenger side and slid into the oncoming ditch.

Fire crews on site of the accident said the victim managed to walk himself into an ambulance.

His companion on the first motorcycle would not comment on how the crash happened.

Cst. Pare said the motorbike’s speed approaching the truck has yet to be determined, but is part of the investigation.

RCMP have taken statements but are looking for further witnesses to the crash, appealing to the nearby construction workers on Finns Road to contact Kelowna RCMP  at 250-762-3300 quoting file number 2016-50720, or to contact Crime Stoppers.
