WINNIPEG — The Arlington Bridge will be completely closed to traffic starting this weekend.
The city said the 104-year-old bridge will close Saturday at 6 a.m. and remain closed until 6 p.m. on Sept. 4.

The closure is due to routine bridge maintenance, including expansion joint repairs, inspection and cleaning.
Pedestrians are still allowed to use the bridge during the closure. Drivers should use alternate routes such as the McPhillips Street Underpass or Slaw Rebchuk Bridge.

The bridge is set to permanently close by 2020. A report at city hall said construction could start on a replacement by 2020. Early cost estimates are pegged at around $300 million.
