The Georgetown boy has Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and his family said the seven-year-old is never invited on play dates or parties.

“He had one birthday,” Misty Strickland said. “He was in daycare at that time – so we were able to give out invites – and only one child came to that party. Since then he’s never had a friend come.”

Strickland wanted to have a big party for her son and decided to post an invite online.

“Fields of people are messaging saying they want to come and they are going to bring their children,” Strickland said.

“They also say that their children are going through the same thing. It’s great that there is that support.”

Two mothers from Guelph saw the online post and offered to help plan the party.

“We are both moms of special needs children. My daughter turned nine in June and only one child showed up to her birthday,” Tarliyn Oliver-Purmals said.

“It’s not the first time it happened but we don’t want other kids to go through it”

The party took place on Sunday and over 30 people came to show their support.

“I’ve never met the family before,” Doreen Ross said.

“I have three children of my own and my son has gone through the same thing … I know how it feels and I really wanted to reach out to his mom and help Logan have a really good birthday.”
