According to BC Hydro, electricity demand has reached record-breaking highs this summer.
On Thursday, the Crown corporation recorded the highest consumption so far this summer at 7,320 megawatts.
BC Hydro says it expects to break the all-time summer record of 7,468 set on Aug. 11, 2014 by about 100 megawatts on Friday.

During a heat wave, BC Hydro recommends take the following steps to save some money:
- Keep the blinds down: shade windows and block up to 65 per cent of the heat.
- Use a ceiling fan: ceiling fans are the most efficient option for cooling. Ensure the fan is rotating counter-clockwise.
- Keep the clothes dryer off: hang laundry to dry to keep unnecessary heat out of your house.
- Cook outside: use the barbecue to reduce the use of your stove or oven.
But despite the high increase of electricity consumption during the summer, BC Hydro says the increase is still more significant during the winter.
The highest consumption ever recorded took place on Nov. 29, 2006, when it reached 10,113 megawatts.
