Man charged with voyeurism after allegedly taking photo of boy in Dartmouth mall washroom

Police have laid charges after a man was accused of taking a photo of an 11-year-old boy in a washroom at the Mic Mac Mall on Monday.

Halifax Regional Police say they received a report that a man took a photo of the boy who was in the stall next to him in the men’s washroom.

The boy reportedly left the washroom and told his mother, who then told mall security.

Security officers went into the washroom and detained the man. He was held by mall security until police arrived a short while later.

The man was then arrested and his cellphone was seized.

As a result of the police investigation, a search warrant was executed at a Middle Sackville home on Tuesday, seizing a computer and electronic storage devices.

Police have since charged 31-year-old Ian Gerald Keddy of Middle Sackville with voyeurism. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 3.
