Ryan Cochrane and Hugues Fournel came up short in the men’s kayak double 200-metre final, finishing eighth in the race.

The team from Spain took Gold, Great Britain earned silver and the duo from Lithuania placed third to take bronze.

The duo finished third in their semi-final race on Wednesday.

Cochrane and Fournel were late additions to the Canadian Olympic team. The athletes found out they were going to Rio just three weeks before the games, after a Russian team was disqualified due to doping violations.
