An 86-year-old woman was pulled from a pond in the middle of a seniors facility early Monday.
Global News has learned that staff members called 911 when the woman was found. EMS crews tried to resuscitate her but were unsuccessful.
Calgary police have confirmed the woman was dead when she was found in centre of Trinity Lodge Retirement Community.
Police have told Global News they do not believe the death is considered suspicious, however they could not speak to how this incident happened.
The area the woman was found houses functionally independent seniors.
Trinity Lodge is privately owned and does not receive government funding, therefore there will not be a government investigation.
Editor’s Note: The family of Elsie Brohman contacted Global News Aug. 24 to report the woman who died at Trinity Lodge was their mother, and that further investigation showed Mrs. Brohman died of a heart attack. She was 87 years old.
