Vancouver Police say the cat burglar was arrested for break-and-enter after they rescued him off the roof of a home in the area of Matthews Avenue and Cypress Street around 1 a.m. on Sunday.

The 51-year-old man appeared to be trying to access the house through a skylight but got stuck after sliding down the roof, 25 feet from the ground.

He then called 9-1-1 to ask for help.

Police and Vancouver Fire and Rescue arrived and pulled him down off the roof.

“Even a skylight can be an attractive invitation to an agile cat burglar,” says VPD staff sergeant Randy Fincham. “This cat wisely chose to save one of his nine lives and called 9-1-1 for help.”

The burglar apparently has a long history of break-ins and was taken into custody, facing charges for break-and-enter.
