A little baby girl, who was delivered after her pregnant mother, Marie-Pier Gagne, 27, was fatally struck by a car earlier this week in Quebec City is said to be in stable condition.
Gagne, who was 40 weeks pregnant, was crossing Laurier Boulevard at a pedestrian crossing Wedensday when she was killed.
In a Facebook post, the infant’s uncle said preliminary tests were positive and baby Alexe would not be requiring surgery.
Chantal Lacroix, a Quebec television host, who has been in close contact with the family also took to Facebook to post an update on the newborn’s health.

Lacroix said the baby girl suffered two fractures to her skull and a concussion in the collision that killed her mother and it was the severity of those injuries which required the baby be airlifted to a Montreal hospital.
“Her condition has been stable since her arrival in Montreal,” Lacroix wrote adding that time was on her side.
Lacroix’s post goes on to express gratitude on behalf of the family for the continued support and generosity shown by the public at large.
A crowdfunding page, to help see the new father through these difficult times, has already raised over $49,000.
