Small plane crashes in Virginia, two dead

Six people are dead after a small plane crashed in Virginia Friday afternoon. Raw footage shows the aftermath of the fiery incident – Aug 12, 2016

Police say a small plane was attempting to land at a northern Virginia airport when it crashed and burst into flames.

State Police Spokeswoman Corinne Geller said in an email that the private aircraft came to the end of the runway on Friday and then pulled back up. Geller says the plane struck a tree line, crashed and immediately caught fire.

Police say at least two people died. They have not said how many people were on board the plane.

Shari Acree was on board an Amtrak train near the airport when the crash occurred. She says she saw white smoke and then the crash. She says in an email that flames were coming out of the wreckage and the plane was “completely decimated.”

The Federal Aviation Administration says it’s investigating.
