Purses, wallets, cash, cell phones and even insurance documentation, you name it; if it’s in your unlocked car, it’s a prime target.

“Thieves have gone as far as taking items of clothing, a wall clock, darts, a lunch kit and even the head lights and tail lights attached to a vehicle,” said Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey.

RCMP say as many as 21 thefts from vehicles have been reported in just the last two weeks.

“RCMP continue to remind vehicle owners to lock their vehicles, as the majority of those targeted had been left insecure and at times with windows down,” O’Donaghey adds. “In most cases the thefts appear to have been committed overnight, however some thefts occurred while vehicles were left parked temporarily in store parking lots or at the beach.”

Police say the thieves aren’t picky, targeting people all over the city in both residential and commercial areas.
