Cyclist struck by vehicle rushed to hospital with serious injuries

A cyclist was badly injured after being run over by a car Thursday in Kelowna.

The 33-year-old man was bicycling on Ethel Street just after 9:00 a.m. when an on-coming car turned left in front of him on a green light at the intersection of Sutherland Avenue.

The victim apparently struck the vehicle’s hood and windshield before falling to the ground.

He was rushed to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the 82-year-old car driver could be charged with failing to yield to the right of way on a left turn.

RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed the incident, and have not yet spoken to police, to call Cst. Lise Marion at 250-980-5353.
