Toronto police target 4 more marijuana dispensaries in latest round of raids

At least six people face charges after Toronto police raided four more medical marijuana dispensaries, months after a citywide crackdown on the controversial storefronts that led to dozens of arrests.

Police said officers from 54 Division and the Toronto Anti-Violence Intervention Strategy executed a search warrant at “Section 56” dispensary at 912 Danforth Avenue and seized 2,602 grams of dried marijuana, 312.51 grams of hash, 207.13 grams of oil, 457.43 grams of edible marijuana products and $1,552.50 in cash.

Richard Bradley, 63, of Toronto, and William Ley, 36, of no fixed address have each been charged with three counts of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

Police then conducted a second raid on the “S.W.E.D.” marijuana dispensary located at 988 Pape Avenue Monday and confiscated 947 grams of dried marijuana and $7,288.55 of cash.

Toronto residents Keng Her, 26, and Ryan Flood, 22, have each been charged with two counts of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

A second “S.W.E.D.” marijuana dispensary location at 1898 Danforth Avenue was also targeted in the raid, and police seized 6,018 grams of dried marijuana, and $7,000 in cash.

Daniel Her, 21, and Ross Mackenzie, 29, both of Toronto, have each been charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime. 

All of the accused are scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Sept. 22.

Police said the total amount seized was 9.787 kilograms of dried marijuana and $15,841.05 in cash. They estimate the total street value of the drugs at $97,871.

Acting Staff Sgt. Rob Hargan said 14 Division targeted a fourth marijuana dispensary called Green Room located at 890 Dundas St. W., in an unrelated raid Monday, but could not provide details on the number of arrests made or the amount of marijuana seized.
