Police said both were in good health and did not require medical care.
Mounties said they are seeing an increase lately in the number of people picking mushrooms and berries in remote northern locations and are reminding them of the following safety measures:
- Do not go in areas you are unfamiliar with. You can easily get turned around in large bush areas, whether or not there are marked trails.
- Tell someone when and where you are going AND when you can be expected to return. Tell them who to contact if they do not return at that time.
- Wear proper clothing and take sufficient survival supplies with you.
- Consider getting a satellite device. Cellular phones do not work in many of the remote areas.
