Gas leak that forced dozens in the Maples to evacuate repaired

WINNIPEG — A gas leak that temporarily forced 200 people from their homes has been repaired.

The fire chief told Global News it was “heavy machinery” working on Keewating Street that hit the gas line.

The leak happened around 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Keewatin Street between Inkster Boulevard.

Winnipeg police were also on scene for several hours blocking off  Keewatin Street between Inkster Boulevard and Adsum Drive.  The leak was repaired around 2:30.
