‘Bold’ wolf spurs tent camping ban in parts of Banff National Park

Banff National Park officials said “bold wolf behaviour” has caused a temporary tent camping ban in two areas of the park.

Tent campers in Two Jack Main and Lakeside campgrounds have been re-located as a result.

“The bold behaviour of this wolf is evident in her search of food and garbage due to increased food rewards from the public,” officials said in a Wednesday statement. “Anything that has an odour, or could be considered food, may attract wildlife to your site.”

Officials said anyone with a reservation can visit their assigned campground kiosk for more information, but noted the Banff area is currently full for camping. Officials suggested new campers visit Lake Louise, Yoho or Kootenay.
