The St. Louis Hotel celebrated its grand reopening on Friday, following renovations and a restoration program launched in the spring of 2015.

The hotel will now be home to the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC), which previously resided in the Hiller Building on 8 Avenue S.E.

In addition to housing CMLC’s offices, the new Central Library construction site office will be located in the basement for the next 30 months. Once construction of the library is complete, CMLC will seek full-time retail operators to occupy the 12,000 square feet located on the lower two levels.

“With mixed-use office space on the second and third floors and a variety of retail uses planned for the main floor and basement, our restoration of the St. Louis opens up new chapters for this historical asset while further supporting our retail vision for the neighbourhood,” CMLC’s president and CEO Michael Brown said in a Friday news release.
