A Louisiana man’s dash cam captured a scary and bizarre encounter early last Wednesday morning as two men attempted to steal his car at a carwash.

Confronted by the two men, one of whom was armed with a pistol, Michael Davis decided to respond with the closest weapon he could find: a power washer.

“[The armed man] said ‘give me your keys and your money,’ and I said ‘what’d you say?’ and I took the sprayer and just sprayed it right in his face,” Davis told KCBD News in Louisiana.

The incident occurred at a drive-in carwash in Shreveport, Louisiana around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning. Davis said it was an easy decision to confront the armed robbers despite his disadvantage in the firepower department.

“If they would’ve taken my keys and my money, they probably would have shot me anyway, plus I had my disabled veteran brother in the car, they could’ve done something to him as well,” said Davis.

Video shows Davis spraying the first man, before the second attempts to wrestle the hose out of his hand. However, a powerful close-quarters blast was enough to discourage both men.

“I heard his friend try to run and get my backside so I turned around and sprayed him and hit him and they took off running,” Davis said. “The whole situation to me was almost surreal.”

Shreveport Police is currently on the lookout for the two men, but have yet to release a detailed description of the two suspects.
