Pokemon Go ‘gym’ outside Hells Angels clubhouse in Coquitlam draws warning

Police are concerned after discovering a Pokemon Go “gym” stop located right outside a Hells Angels clubhouse in Coquitlam.

The Hells Angels Vancouver chapter clubhouse on Brunette Ave. is drawing Pokemon Go players, including children, to its location, and authorities are urging the public to use caution.

“We’ve heard stories of Pokemon gyms and PokeStops being inappropriate not only here in Canada but around the world. There are spots in the game that are inappropriate,” said staff sergeant Lindsay Houghton of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C.

The Hells Angels are a motorcycle gang with some members having links to criminal activity.

Though they haven’t received any complaints directly, Houghton says Hells Angels spokesperson Rick Ciarniello has said the location was “inappropriate.”

In the game, players are encouraged to gather at Pokemon “gyms” to battle each other.

Several other locations in the game have received outrage, including a stop at Auschwitz.
