Drew Storen removed from Blue Jays 40-man roster

TORONTO – The Toronto Blue Jays designated right-handed reliever Drew Storen for assignment on Sunday.

Storen, who has a 6.21 earned-run average through 33 1/3 innings pitched for the Blue Jays this season, allowed three runs in the eighth inning of Saturday’s 14-5 blowout loss to Seattle.

The move takes Storen off Toronto’s 40-man roster. He must clear waivers before being sent to the minor leagues.

Storen was acquired in an off-season deal with Washington for speedy outfielder Ben Revere.

The Blue Jays recalled reliever Ryan Tepera in a corresponding roster move.
