It has been over three years since a 57-year-old woman was assaulted in an unprovoked attack in Port Coquitlam and now Mounties say they have made progress in the investigation.
The alleged assault took place shortly after 4:30 p.m. on June 28, 2013, in the 2800-block of Commonwealth Street.
Police found the woman suffering from cuts to her head and bruising to her arms and legs.
The victim had returned home from work and was unlocking her front door when a man allegedly ran up from behind and repeatedly struck her on the head and body with a blunt instrument.
The man then fled in an awaiting vehicle.
The victim was transported to the hospital, where she was treated for her injuries.
The suspect is described as a Middle Eastern man with a dark complexion, approximately 25 years-old, 5’10” tall and 180 pounds.
At the time of the attack, he was wearing a baseball hat, dark clothing and a bandana covering the bottom half of his face.
After three years of collecting and analyzing evidence, police have now released a video image of a vehicle believed to be involved.
It is a metallic grey 2008-2010 Nissan Rogue SL Sport SUV with a green “N” under rear window.
It allegedly has five spoke rims with a slight “u” shape at the top of each spoke, tinted rear passenger and back window, a moon roof and roof rack.
Investigators believe the attack was targeted even though the motive remains unknown.
They believe that someone out there knows the person responsible for the attack and ask that they do the right thing and come forward to police.
