WINNIPEG — The tornado that struck Long Plain First Nation Wednesday night has now been given a preliminary rating by Environment Canada.
Although the investigation is ongoing the tornado has received a rating of EF1 – the second lowest rating on the Fujita scale.
The storm was at its’ peak between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and caused widespread damage to buildings. No one was injured.

That same night, there were two funnel clouds, one of which may have briefly touched down near Hartney, Deloraine and Lauder areas.

Environment Canada said civil engineers are still on site assessing damage and the rating could possibly change once they complete their investigation.
