Twin sisters from Edmonton will be front and centre on the basketball court at the Rio Olympics.
Michelle Plouffe and Katherine Plouffe, both forwards, were selected to represent Team Canada. This will be their first time together representing the red and white at the Olympic Games.

Michelle was on Team Canada at the 2012 London Olympics; Katherine, however, wasn’t selected for the squad.
“It was hard to watch her in the stands,” Katherine told Global News about that experience.
“It’s a dream come true to play with her.”
The sisters qualified for the 12-member squad after a training camp in Edmonton in May. They were also on the team that clinched a ticket to Rio last August after grabbing gold at the FIBA Americas Women’s Championship at Edmonton’s Saville Centre.

Katherine currently plays with a team in Nantes Reze, France while Michelle plays with a team in Mondeville, France.
The other members selected for the Olympic team are Natalie Achonwa, Miranda Ayim, Kim Gaucher, Lizanne Murphy, Shona Thorburn, Tamara Tatham, Nirra Fields, Miah-Marie Langlois, Kia Nurse and Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe.
