A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection to the death of a 35-year-old woman after the Porsche they were in crashed into a building in Toronto’s Queen’s Quay area earlier this month.
Toronto police say the man was behind the wheel when he lost control around 6 p.m. on July 2 while traveling eastbound on Queen’s Quay East.
They say the 2009 Porsche 911 then somehow left the roadway and crashed into a building. The female passenger was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition and later died of her injuries.
Joseph Kirkpatrick of Kitchener was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and criminal negligence cause death.
The accused was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
Police say both occupants were pulled from the vehicle by two male bystanders and are seeking the public’s help to identify them.
One of the men is described as brown, between 30 to 40 years of age, medium build, with wavy, medium-length black hair on top and shorter on the sides, full beard, black watch on left wrist, light-coloured bracelet on right wrist, red-and-white plaid top, light full-length blue jeans, black shoes, possibly high-tops or work boots with gold or yellow writing and gold-rimmed dark sunglasses.
The second is described as white, between 35 to 40 years of age, medium build, short brown hair with sideburns and full goatee, with few days’ growth of facial hair, medium build, medium-blue golf shirt, dark-blue shorts, yellow bracelet on right wrist, light-grey, dark-grey and white running shoes.
