‘It’s time to come together’: Texas trooper breaks into tears after fatal Baton Rouge shootings

In the wake of the fatal shootings of three Baton Rouge police officers in Louisiana on Sunday, a video of a Texas state trooper breaking down into tears has emerged on social media.

“It’s time to come together. It’s time,” the unidentified Texas highway patrol trooper told Fox 4.

In the video posted to Twitter, you see the emotional trooper standing outside a memorial for recently slain Dallas police officers.

With a tissue in hand, the trooper wipes away his tears, while residents are greeting him.

Five Dallas law enforcement officers were killed and nine others injured on July 7 when a sniper opened fire during an anti-police brutality protest.

U.S. President Barrack Obama issued a call for unity on Sunday in the aftermath of the second fatal police shooting this month.

The country has been on edge surrounding the shootings of black men by police and the recent attacks on law enforcement officers.

With the Republican and Democratic political conventions starting in Cleveland and Philadelphia, Obama said, “We don’t need inflammatory rhetoric,” adding that we need to “focus on words and actions that can unite this country rather than divide it further.”
