Staff at the Waterloo, Ont., school had been on strike for nearly a week.

The union says the tentative agreement came after a day of protests outside the campus.

The president of the Canadian Union of Public Employees local 926 says the agreement doesn’t address all of the workers’ concerns, but was an improvement over previous agreements.

Union members are expected to review the proposed tentative agreement Sunday, and details of the proposed agreement won’t be released until workers vote on whether to accept it.

The union previously said that one of the sticking points was that the university had asked for a “carte blanche” to contract out work.

While the majority of students are currently on their summer break, the school’s summer courses are in session throughout July and August.
