Pilot dies in small plane crash north of Hoey, Sask.

For the second time in less than a week, a pilot has died following a plane crash in Saskatchewan. Jacqueline Wilson with more from the most recent crash site near Hoey – Jul 15, 2016

The pilot of a light aircraft has died in a crash approximately two kilometres north of Hoey, Sask.

Wakaw RCMP were called to the scene of the crash, about 115 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon, at around 8:37 p.m. CT on Wednesday.

The 40-year-old male pilot was found dead at the scene. His name has not been released at this time.

The Transportation Safety Board is sending a team to investigate the cause of the crash and confirm the plane was some sort of spray plane.

Crop dusting or aerial spraying is common during summer months as many farmers use it to spray fields with pesticides and fertilizers.

Last Friday, a 22-year-old man was killed after his plane crashed in a farmer’s field near Rocanville, Sask.

And on July 1, two off-duty military men were killed when their small plane crashed in the Rural Municipality of Springfield near Winnipeg.
