The scorching outdoor temperature in Toronto is forcing GO Transit to issue a “slow order” for the Wednesday afternoon train commute.
The slow order means GO Transit trains, as well as the Union Pearson Express, will reduce their speed by 24 kilometres per hour which will add approximately 10 minutes per trip.

The advisory will be in place between noon and 8 p.m. as Toronto is expected to hit a high of 33 C on Wednesday.
Metrolinx says sustained temperatures above 30 C can cause what it calls “sun kinks” in steel rails.
These bends in the rail can cause a safety issue if trains pass over them too quickly.
