MONTREAL – A West Island family is desperately searching for their six-month-old Border Collie/German Shepherd mix, Finnegan.

The pup ran away during the Saint-Jean-Baptiste fireworks on June 24 at Millenium Park in Dorval.

He was last seen around 10:30 p.m.

“Finn was seen running across Bouchard onto Galland Blvd.,” states the Facebook post.

“He still had his leash and collar on.”

The family is begging for his safe return.

“Please, please, please help us find him. He could be anywhere … hiding in your back yard/shed/under your balcony,” the post continues.

“He could be hurt. He could be in the industrial sector/airport, or by the Lakeshore, or even in another municipality by now.”

“He might be so afraid that he could be hiding during the day and only coming out at night. Or someone could have taken him in and, for whatever reason, decided to keep him.”

Finnegan weighs 30 lbs, is a golden colour, with black fur on his muzzle and the tip of his tail.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

He is timid around new people, but loves other dogs.

“[All the help] has been incredibly heartwarming and encouraging, to say the least,” writes the post.

“Your help, in whatever way possible, can also lead to finding Finn and bringing him home to his family, who loves him dearly, is worried about his health and safety, and misses him tremendously.”

A reward is being offered for Finnegan’s safe return.
