“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that we have lost our beloved clubhouse due to a fire throughout the night,” wrote golf operations manager Eric Tobin in a Facebook post.

The club will be closed until further notice, according to the Facebook post, but Tobin says the company is committed to getting back to regular operation.

Tobin went on to thank the Baddeck and Middle river volunteer firefighters who worked throughout the night to fight the blaze.

The RCMP say damage was contained to the clubhouse.

So far police say they don’t know what triggered the fire. The fire marshall and police remain on scene Sunday to investigate the cause.

The golf club is asking club members and guests to avoid going to the club due to safety concerns.
