Saskatoon police say a 37-year-old man popped a trunk of a vehicle with a sawed-off shotgun inside before fleeing an officer on Saturday.
At around 9:20 a.m. CT, a patrol car was about to make a traffic stop in the area of Confederation Place on a red car, suspected of being operated by a suspended driver.
When the car pulled over, the driver exited the car, remotely opened the truck and approached the rear of the vehicle.

The officer exited the patrol car and spoke to the driver who then ran away.
Police say the officer quickly checked and spotted a sawed-off shotgun in the trunk.
The suspect was arrested shortly after by responding officers in the 800-block of Northumberland Avenue.

He is facing charges including unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.
The man was also issued a ticket for operating a motor vehicle while subject to a driving suspension. He is expected to appear in front of a justice of the peace on Saturday evening.
