Ontario father charged with assault after baby left in ‘coma-like state’: police

A 22-year-old Ontario father has been charged with assault after his four-month-old baby boy suffered ‘horrific injuries’ under his care in Brampton, Ont. on Canada Day.

Peel Regional Police say the infant’s injuries have left him in a ‘coma-like state’ in hospital.

Klintom Villaruz faces one count of aggravated assault. The baby is currently in hospital in serious but stable condition.

Villaruz was arrested on July 3 and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
