MONTREAL – Quebec Environment Minister David Heurtel has issued a call for tenders to clean up the PCB-contaminated land in Pointe-Claire.

The soil is on the former site of Reliance Power Equipment at 86 Hymus Blvd.

The clean up will take place in two parts and will cost an estimated $8.3 million.

After the property is decontaminated, neighbouring lands and groundwater will be tested for any traces of the PCBs.

Tests done earlier this year by Montreal’s Department of Public Health showed the PCBs on the property are not a health threat for area residents.
