He said he was shocked to find his neighbour smeared in blood.

“He was bloody, his face and hands. He didn’t look like he was bleeding himself, but there was blood,” White said.

White said the neighbour asked for a phone to call 911, but wouldn’t say why.

Shortly after, ambulance and police arrived on the property in the 700 block of Spland Road in West Kelowna.

White saw the neighbour’s girlfriend come out of the home in a gurney.

“Very bloody on a stretcher. She was moving but she didn’t look like she was in good shape,” he said.

RCMP say the 31-year-old woman was rushed to hospital in serious condition and was suffering from potentially life-threatening injuries.

“Police attended the scene and discovered a woman, who was conscious at the time and appeared to be suffering from a single gunshot wound,” said Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey.

White has lived in his home for more than a year and has heard the couple argue, but has never seen them engage in violence.

A 28-year-old West Kelowna man was arrested at the home, but police is not confirming if he is White’s neighbour.

RCMP are awaiting a warrant to search the property.
