Peterborough man charged with harassing former girlfriend by sending 100s of texts

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – A 48-year-old Peterborough, Ont., man is facing charges after allegedly sending hundreds of unwanted text messages to his former girlfriend.

Police say the man is on conditions to not communicate in any way with the woman, who they say is in her mid 40s.

Investigators say they received a report late last month that the accused was attempting to communicate with the woman in several ways – including calling her, driving by her home and sending her hundreds of text messages.

They say a man was arrested on Monday and charged with criminal harassment and failing to comply with a recognizance.

Police say they are not releasing the names of the accused or the alleged victim.
