KELOWNA – HandyDART service in Kelowna will benefit by another 2,000 hours of operation starting this September with more hours to come in the next three years.
The additional funding for BC Transit has increased by $12.7 million to $324 million province wide.
“HandyDART is important to Kelowna residents because it provides a safe and reliable transportation option and keeps people connected to their community,” says Kelowna-Lake Country MLA Norm Letnick. “This funding lift and increase in handyDART service hours ties in with our commitment to reduce barriers while increasing accessibility for people living with disabilities.”
Kelowna is the 4th B.C community to cost share with the province.
HandyDART is an accessible, door-to-door transit service for people with permanent or temporary disabilities that prevent them from using fixed-route transit.
