Saskatoon city Coun. Darren Hill wants to rename the South Circle Drive Bridge in honour of Gordie Howe.

Hill first posted the idea of naming the bridge after Howe on his Facebook page last week, and the response has been overwhelming.

Howe, who grew up in Saskatoon, passed away earlier this month.

Hill wants to discuss the idea at Monday’s city council meeting, but in order to do that, he’ll have to have the unanimous consent of councillors because he missed the deadline to get it onto the council’s agenda.

If it doesn’t get discussed a Monday’s meeting, he plans to bring it up during July’s council meeting.
